Born and raised in southern Italy, at the age of 17 he had his first personal art exhibition in Torretta, Sicily. His first artwork was done in tempera and watercolor, and the themes were local landscapes, still lives, and the environment. In fact, several of his early works pointed out the destruction of nature.
Later on he went on active duty with the US Air Force and spent 31 years with the NY Air National Guard working as a mechanical designer/CAD operator, graphic artist and illustrator. He made pen and ink illustrations for the military newspapers, painted murals and created a series of acrylic paintings dedicated to the themes of flights. In addition, he held several art shows.
Ottavio likes to spend his free time with family, restoring statues, playing soccer, writing online and for the Schenectady Gazette, and volunteering in the community on social and environmental issues.
