ASEP: Grade-based Homerooms, Specialty Classes
The After School Enrichment Program at the SJCC is fun-filled with activities such as Swim Lessons, Piano Lessons, Cooking, Arts and crafts, Ceramics, Sports and so much more.
ASEP is divided by grade for homeroom. There the children have snack and play games with their friends. From there, the kids go to specialty classes, which run for 8-10 weeks at a time and are chosen by kids and their parents. These range anywhere from sports to arts and crafts to swim lessons and free time. There is also a room designed just for those children who would like to work on school work. For most of the specialty classes, the children are divided into two groups – one of 1st & 2nd graders and the other of 3rd, 4th & 5th graders. Each homeroom and class has counselors who have been trained to supervise and interact with school-age children.
JCC Childcare
The Schenectady Jewish Community Center (SJCC) is the place for after-school and vacation day childcare, packed with perfect programming for children in elementary and middle school! Families have trusted the Schenectady JCC with their children since we've opened our doors and have made the J the largest child-care organization in Schenectady County! We have responded with terrific programming that provides a safe, caring and nurturing environment where children learn, play and grow together as a community.
Regulated Excellence: SJCC Childcare Standards
The SJCC School-Age child care programs are regulated by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services which requires the SJCC to undergo routine inspections and meet health and safety requirements. Staff must have prior experience caring for children and undergo fingerprinting and background checks, as well as receive ongoing training in areas such as safety, nutrition, and child abuse prevention. Adult-to-child ratios which ensure that children are properly supervised and get the attention they need, are strictly adhered to.
SJCC After School Enrichment Programs
ASEP primarily serves the Niskayuna school district, as transportation from those elementary school is provided.
SJCC membership is required to be a participant in ASEP.

School Vacation Day Programming
The SJCC offers school vacation days and snow day programs. We do our best to accommodate your children on days that school is closed. These are available for an additional charge and you must pre-register your child each day you would like him/her to attend. Registration forms are distributed to all After School Programs closer to each school break or school closures.
The SJCC does its best to make things as easy for parents and their children as possible.
